James Smith to Retire from KSLA-TV

After ten years of service as Vice President and General Manager of KSLA-TV in Shreveport, LA. James Smith has decided to retire. Smith joined KSLA in March of 2006.

"James demonstrated excellent leadership and dedication to KSLA and Raycom Media,” said Paul McTear, Raycom Media President and CEO. “I wish him all the best in his retirement."

Shreveport was Smith’s fifth stop in a broadcasting career that has spanned four decades. He graduated from the University of Texas and began his career as a reporter and photographer at KZTV in Corpus Christi, Texas. He also served as News Director and anchor in Bryan-College Station, Texas. He was News Director and anchor at KPLC-TV in Lake Charles, La for 19 years. Under his leadership, the news department received numerous awards from the Louisiana Associated Press. Smith was also Vice President and General Manager of WWAY-TV in Wilmington, NC, from 1999 to 2006.
