Rita Scott to Retire From WCSC-TV

After 17 years of service as Vice President and General Manager of WCSC in Charleston, SC. Rita Scott has decided to close a successful 38 year career in broadcasting. Rita’s last day at WCSC will be Friday, April 1.

"Rita loves Charleston and the people of Charleston, her passion for place and community has been infused into the staff at WCSC throughout the years, it shows in everything they do from community events to the news coverage they provide every day." said Paul McTear, Raycom Media President and CEO. "We appreciate all Rita has done for us, a job well done. I wish Rita and her husband Leon nothing but happiness as she enjoys a well-deserved retirement."

Rita was born in High Point, NC where she started her career in sales at WGHP. She went on to work in Cleveland, Chicago and Charlotte. Rita came to Charleston and WCSC originally as National Sales Manager in 1994. She later rose to General Sales Manager in 1998 and then Vice President and General Manager in 1999.

Rita has served on numerous boards including Spoleto USA, International African American Museum (Vice Chair), Trident United Way, Sophia Institute, Regional CEO Council and the Nielsen Alliance. Scott and her husband Leon plan to continue to make Charleston their home. Rita has two sons, a granddaughter and grandson.
