Raycom Media has reached a total of 11 retransmission agreements with multichannel video programming distributors (“MVPDs”) in the last 12 months with no disruption to viewers. The deals covered 41 Raycom Media markets, and maintained service to over 2.5 million subscribers, which represents over 15% of the total subscriber base that chooses to view Raycom Media programming via MVPD.
As a result of these successful negotiations, Raycom Media viewers continue to receive local news, weather, sports, locally originated entertainment programming and top-rated programming from NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, MyNetworkTV, The CW, and Telemundo without interruption on the television providers of their choice.
“Our local commitment is to always reach fair, market-based deals without making it a problem for our viewers. We never want our communities to experience a disruption or even the threat of a disruption,” said Pat LaPlatney, Raycom Media President and CEO. “These retransmission consent agreements are important free-market negotiations that sustain broadcast localism. In addition to providing local jobs, platforms for our clients to grow their business through and supporting local charities, these negotiations, ensure we can provide the very best in local news, severe weather, sports and community coverage vital to the viewers we serve.”
