David Williams has been named News Director for KCBD, the Raycom Media owned NBC affiliate in Lubbock, TX. Williams has more than 20 years of experience in broadcasting, and is the recipient of numerous awards including two Emmy Awards and a Regional Murrow Award.
Williams' appointment at KCBD is a homecoming to Raycom Media. Most recently, he worked in the Huntsville, AL market. Prior to taking that role, he was News Director at KPLC in Lake Charles, LA and Executive Producer of WSFA in Montgomery, AL, both Raycom Media owned stations.
"I am fortunate to have the opportunity to return to Raycom Media and help lead a news team with the historical success of KCBD," said Williams. "I look forward to working alongside the veteran team members as we help launch the careers of newer hires and serve the community of Lubbock and the South Plains."
Williams has helped newsrooms become market leaders in the digital space, and he plans to continue that mission in his role as News Director of KCBD.
"We will strive to consistently deliver relevant news, weather and sports information to the viewers and consumers of Lubbock and the South Plains using the platforms they choose to view our news content." Williams said.
Dan Jackson, Vice President and General Manager of KCBD, is excited to have Williams join KCBD.
"David's vast background in producing and news management makes him a great champion in our newsroom," Jackson said. "He knows how to teach, train, and manage a newsroom through big events. He will help us grow our digital engagement to continue our dominance on the South Plains."
