The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) announced WVUE (FOX) in New Orleans, LA, and WWBT (NBC) in Richmond, VA, were in the elite group of organizations to receive the prestigious 2017 RTDNA National Edward R. Murrow Award.
WVUE was honored in the News Series category for the investigative series entitled "Medical Waste" an investigation that led to a national health care provider changing their policies.
WWBT was recognized for Overall Excellence. The RTDNA says an Overall Excellence award goes to news organizations which exemplify the highest standard in electronic journalism.
"We are proud of this national recognition for WVUE and WWBT, their staffs work hard every day to serve their communities." said Pat LaPlatney, President and CEO of Raycom Media. "Their efforts clearly illustrate Raycom Media's commitment to strong journalism in every market we serve and on every platform on which the consumer chooses to view our content."
A few months ago, several Raycom Media owned or managed television stations were honored with multiple 2017 RTDNA Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards.
The Edward R. Murrow Award recognizes the spirit of excellence that Murrow set as a standard in the field of electronic journalism. The complete list of national award winners can be found here.
