WDFX - Dothan, Alabama
WDFX-TV Fox 34 has been a vital part of the “Wiregrass” region of
Alabama since sign-on in 1991. WDFX-TV originated in Ozark, Alabama when
a small group of investors realized the need for a Fox affiliate in the
area. The original call letters were WDAU and the station was licensed
to Ozark, Alabama. The call letters were changed to WDFX, “Dothan’s
Fox”, in 1995 under the ownership of David Woods of Montgomery.
As a part of Woods Communications, WDFX-TV grew in its popularity and
viewer ship. WDFX-TV was purchased by Waitt Media, Inc. in June 1999.
Under Waitt Media, Inc., WDFX-TV moved to our present location of 2221
Ross Clark Circle in Dothan, Alabama. The sales office and traffic
office were under the same roof for the first time which further
improved the efficiency of the station.
WDFX-TV participates in many outside benefit activities in our community
such as WalkAmerica, The United Way Simulcast and telethon and the Child
Advocacy Center.
December 15th, 2003 marked the beginning of a promising new chapter at
WDFX-TV with RAYCOM. With the broadcast knowledge of RAYCOM and the
amazing WDFX-TV family, the WDFX-TV presence will continue to grow in
the Wiregrass.
