WTOC - Savannah, Georgia
WTOC-TV
signed on the air February 14, 1954. A CBS affiliate
from day one, WTOC became the very first television station in Savannah,
Georgia. And WTOC remains today as the number one station in Savannah,
not only in birth date but, most importantly, in viewers and in
community involvement.
WTOC dominates overall Savannah
market viewing (22 Georgia and South Carolina counties), especially with
local news. The station's core weeknight newscasts, at 6:00 PM and 11:00
PM, have won every audience measurement rating period in the market
since November of 1980! That's nearly 25 consecutive years of local news
viewing leadership!
WTOC televises a total of 6 hours of
live local news daily, considerably more than any other local station,
and well above the expectation for a station in the 98th television
market. Supporting that effort, WTOC's five elevated "Sky Cams" bring
area viewers unique live shots of weather conditions and of beautiful
historic Savannah daily, from early morning until sunset.
In addition to a traditional,
dominant, local news presence, WTOC is equally committed to community
involvement, televising far more Savannah and surrounding area community
events annually than all of the other market stations combined.
Along with its on-air news and
outreach efforts, the station also creates and distributes to viewers a
total of 10 print publications each year, running the gamut from a
quarterly, two-section, broadsheet newspaper, to a 120+ page thick high
school football magazine, as well as a severe weather guide and an
annual tribute to our area's five-branch military units.
The talented and dedicated men and women of WTOC-TV work hard every day to maintain market dominance by serving to the fullest our tens of thousands of committed and appreciative viewers. It is that consistent dedication and that large, loyal viewership that have combined to make WTOC "The Southeast News Leader."
